Santify/Hallow-Hagiazo (Greek)-Set apart Sanctification /Holiness-Hagiasmos (Greek)-State of being made holy.

Sanctification
Progress towards holiness. It includes Spirit, Soul and body. Holiness means being totally devoted or dedicated to God, set aside for His special use and set apart from Sin and its influence

Three stages in Holiness
1. Positional Holiness – Justification- Set apart for God
2. Progressive Holiness - Sanctification – Progressing in Holiness
3. Perfect Holiness - Glorification- Being with God

Wrong Opinion about Holiness
1. Holiness is impossible
2. Holiness is Choice
3. Holiness is only for God

Why do we keep ourselves Holy?
1) Holiness of God –Is 6:3; Is 4:8.....The holiness of God is our standard I Pet1: 16
2) The command of God Lev 11:45 ; II Pet 3:11
3) The purpose of our calling I Thes 4:7;Rom 8:29
4) His Will concerning us I Thes 4:3
5) Minimum Qualification to enter Heaven Heb 12:14

How can we keep our selves Holy?
God has done every thing for our Holiness and we have our and put the right efforts
I John 5:18; II peter 1: 3, 5

The process of Sanctification involves the work of Triune God
God, the Father I Thes 5:23
Jesus Christ Heb 2:11
Holy Spirit I peter 1:2

God starts the process of the Holiness and it can be accomplished only if we put the constant and consistent effort in our lives.

Guidelines for Personal Holiness
1. Ought to take firm decision against Sin Dan 1:8 ; Gen 39:9
2. Count your selves dead to Sin Col 3: 5; Rom 6: 11
3. Be led by the Holy Spirit Gal 5:16
4. Flee from the tempting situations II Tim 2:22
5. Do not entertain Evil Desires Jam 1: 15; II pet 2:10
6. Depend on God Luke 22: 40

Egocentric – Behaving as if you are more important than anyone else and not caring about others
Jealousy - Feeling of anger and sadness because someone has something that is better than you have
Arrogance - Behavior that you think you are better or more important than others
Lie - Deliberately telling some thing that is not true
Hypocrisy – Behavior in which some one claims to have certain moral principles but behaves in a way that shows they are not sincere.
Idolatry- Worship of Idols/ Greed Col 3:5
Lust- Uncontrollable evil desires
Laziness - Not willing to work or to do anything that involves effort
Theft - Taking something that belongs to some one else without permission
Slander - To say something about someone that is not true and is likely to damage their reputation
Disobedience - To parents, Authority, God etc.
Boasting - To proudly tell other people about what you are some one connected with you has done or can do or something about you own.
Hatred- Very strong feeling that you dislike someone very much.
